well the riots after the MLK assassination was THE biggest reason Nixon slaughtered Humphrey. Once LBJ sent the US Army in to the inner-cities to stop the riots Nixon spent the final months of his campaign gaining huge traction in those typically Democrat areas. Hell, his platform was "restore law and order"
those riots are also cited as the leading reason for "white flight" in major cities, especially in the south....so yeah it was one hell of an impact

These examples, schools, streets, and holidays named in his honor, show the impact of MLK's life, not his death. The impact of Martin Luther King's death is that the world lost ~30 years of his service. The question is, what would we have accomplished with him alive that we did not accomplish? That will tell us what impact his assassination had.
Some people say we reached racial equality and basic civil rights for all Americans by the 80s. Would those people really think MLK accelerated that? Other people say we never reached equality for all. Those people don't think MLK would have been the single difference.
George Floyd's death was only three weeks ago. Not nearly enough time to see what impact it might have. If it does lead to changes to where government officials are held accountable for their actions, that would be a significant impact. I doubt that would happen as there are too many Liberals fighting against the changes we need.
The most surprising thing is how much people care about the stuff Biden says.
...And also to see firsthand exactly how violent and opportunistic blacks are, not to mention
what thieving leeches they ALSO are.
Although, to be fair, it's only a small percentage of them -- perhaps 10%? -- that really
deserve that description.
But NO other ethnic/racial group comes close to that disgraceful ratio. That's why black
men are 6% of the nation but 50% of the prison population.
